However I did like the theme of this movie.

Night and Fog: The Holocaust in Film

The Party Convention was staged in that sense the entire film was staged just as the entire convention was staged. Riefenstahl may claim that she simply filmed things that actually occurred, but this also is dishonest. The same pathways which were filled with the blood of the victims were now all buried under the ground.

I have seen many holocaust films, but no one was as near as dramatic and depicting as Night and Fog.

Close-ups are regularly used. This is done in a way that contrasts the almost pastoral scenes of the period of filming with the reality of what happened in those places in Thesis of night and fog past.

In fact, the contemporary world is not totally secured from such tragedies as Holocaust while the policy of genocide is still applied in different parts of the world.

Night and Fog vs Triumph of the Will

In the contemporary footage, the narrator reinforces this contradiction by describing how new grass is growing, how a person might mistake a building for an actual clinic, and how the only thing left to see is a shell, devoid of the actions, emotions and experiences of the people that lived there.

We tend to only remember the important situations in our lives.

NIGHT AND FOG

I got two different meanings from this. By declaring that in Triumph of the Will everything is genuine and that not a single scene is staged, Riefenstahl becomes not just a propagandist, but a liar. The color represented the present and the black and white represented the past.

The same pathways which were filled with the blood of the victims were now all buried under the ground.

Night and Fog

The film stresses that the ideology of racial inequality justified the oppression of minorities, to the extent that this ideology justified physical extinction of minorities.

In actuality, the director of the film focuses his attention on the close interdependence, link between fascism and concentration camps. The film perfectly reveals the evolution of the Nazi ideology from the populist rhetoric aiming at gaining the larger public support of the Nazi regime in Germany toward the official ideology and policy of genocide which was implemented through the system of concentration camps.

The absurdity of their living situation is shown through their sleeping accommodations coupled with images of the presence of a green house, a brothel and even a zoo on camp grounds.

There are some images in this film that will be burned into my mind for as long as I live. The juxtaposition of the mundane and normal with the horrific events going on in the camps seems to have been purposely done to both emphasize the unnaturalness of life in the camps and to show the scale of the atrocity.

Riefenstahl created the propaganda film in Triumph of the Will. The scale of the violence is shown through the casual litter of bodies found by liberating forces and in the way they were disposed of, almost as if they were sacks of garbage.

It was hard to decipher what they were trying to portray. It took everything that we knew about pre WWII and corrected it, so that we knew the truth about how the people of Germany felt, and what they saw in those exact moments.

I have seen many holocaust films, but no one was as near as dramatic and realistic as Night and Fog. From nearly the beginning of the documentary, it became obvious that the music seemed to be intentionally off, playful when it should have been somber, dramatic when it should have been idyllic, and almost graceful when it should have been attempting to express the inexpressible sadness of the scene.

A comparison of the films present two very different views of what Hitler deemed necessary for Germany. Why add these conflicting images? The camera seems to continually focus on the eyes, both in still images and on the eyes of the dead.Significance of Fog in Long Day's Journey into Night Eugene by O'Neill Words | 7 Pages.
